Virtual Visits with nodMD
A “virtual”, or “telemedicine” visit, is a live video encounter with a physician to address health concerns via the internet. It’s an alternative to an in-person visit at the physician’s office and offers privacy, safety, convenience, less drive time and even faster access to a specialist to elevate your care. Our patient surveys overwhelmingly show that patients who see a nodMD specialist through a virtual visit prefer it over an in-person office visit and say the level of care is the same or even better than traditional office visits.
Before each virtual visit, you will need to sign a patient consent, show identification and fill out online forms for the visit—similar to a traditional physician office. Each virtual visit is for a predetermined amount of time. During the video visit, a physician will take notes via their computer keyboard and you can share files—including pictures, notes from previous physicians, test results et cetera.
Virtual Visits–Just Like Traditional Visits
Remote healthcare visits can be used as an alternative for many regular office visits. During a virtual visit, your specialist can follow-up on your condition, provide post-hospital, preventative care and more. Insurance plans typically cover a virtual visit the same as they would cover an in-office visit. nodMD also offers cash pay.
- You can attend your virtual visit from anywhere. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer that has a webcam and a high-speed internet connection.
- Your specialist may request that you visit a lab or imaging center for further workup, just like an in-person doctor visit.
- In some cases, additional treatments may require an in-office appointment that includes a physical exam in order to provide you with the most comprehensive care. We will furnish treatment notes to the attending physician.
